Biography
Lace was a Canadian country music trio formed in 1998 under the guidance of renowned producer David Foster. The group featured Beverley Mahood, Giselle Brohman, and Corbi Dyann. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1999, featured production work from Foster, Chris Farren, Humberto Gatica, and J. Richard Hutt. The album’s tracks were penned by notable songwriters, including Linda Thompson, Deana Carter, Sarah McLachlan, and John Scott Sherrill.
In 2000, Corbi Dyann departed from the group and was replaced by Stacey Lee, a Canadian from Ontario. This lineup change occurred during a period when the trio was often compared to successful female country groups like the Dixie Chicks and She DAISY. Their efforts earned them nominations for Group of the Year and Video of the Year (“I Want a Man”) at the 2000 Canadian Country Music Awards, as well as a nomination for Best Country Group or Duo at the 2000 Juno Awards. The group continued to release music, including the single “Can You Handle It” in 2006, but eventually disbanded, marking the end of their active years.
Lace was a staple at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival between 1993 and 2011. Beverly Mahood still performs in 2025.
