Biography
Gil Grand, born Gilles Lagrandeur on January 8, 1968, in Sudbury, Ontario, is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter. He gained popularity in the 1990s and early 2000s, known for his smooth voice and blend of traditional country with contemporary influences. He’s associated with the Canadian country music scene, where he was one of the artists who helped shape the genre during that time.
Some of his notable songs include “No One Else”, “Where Are You”, and “I Will Be Your Friend”. He also released several albums, such as “Gil Grand”, which brought him significant attention in the Canadian charts.
Since 1998, he has released three studio albums: Famous First Words (1998), Burnin‘ (2002), and Somebody’s Someone (2006). His debut single, “Famous First Words,” reached the RPM Top Ten in 1998. Throughout his career, Grand has earned multiple Canadian Country Music Awards nominations and wins, including Independent Male Artist of the Year in 2003. In 2006, he co-founded the “Raise the Roof” tour with his brother Jake, aiming to raise awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities across Canada. Currently, Grand resides in Nashville, where he serves as co-owner and president of Grand & Gee Music Group.
Gil Grand performed at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival in 2004. He was part of the festival’s lineup, which was a major country music event in British Columbia at the time.
